Milestone City

Today we hit a milestone! Laney rolled over from her tummy to her back for the first time. Of course I missed it, I had run to the other room to change my shirt that she had just decorated. So I place her back on her tummy and voila she pushes herself again - I clap and make encouraging sounds being the proud momma that I am. I think to myself I need to get this on tape - I run and grab my phone turn on the video and put her back on her tummy - she looks up into the camera and promptly starts crying! I wait - maybe she is tired. After she gets up from her nap, we try again and nothing! Ryan comes home and he tries his luck - Nothing! I will continue to try to get this feat on tape.

Laney has also started laughing but there is no getting it recorded yet either. I can only get her to laugh while holding her and laughing myself and she is usually to cranky/tired to laugh when Ryan gets home from work. We will attempt to get that on tape this upcoming weekend.

Thirdly, Laney has started teething. This has been a fun adventure! You might be thinking "wow! Isn't she too young?" Well, yes she is! Most babies don't begin to teeth until 6 months. This is one milestone I was not ready for her to reach yet.

Playmat time

Laney figured out how to pull the dragonfly free of her play mat for the purpose of chewing on it. However, since she does not have the best motor skills it sometimes turns into a mustache or a headband.

Cutest Baby Contest

I entered Laney in the Daily Telegram's Cutest Baby Contest thinking to myself that she is so super cute she is bound to place(as I am sure every mom thinks). This is before I found out it was an online voting forum. Voting started on Saturday and there is already a kid with 2000 votes! The kicker is that kid is not even that cute.. his mom just must be crazy!!!!I have been harassing everyone I know to vote and Laney is still so far behind that she won't even place. I still feel the need to vote for her everyday out of "mom pride." Even if she does not win, I want to be able to tell her when she is older how many votes she got for cutest baby.

Blew it already

I looked at the date of the last update and was sad.. It is still January and I have already broken my resolution to update at least once a week. So here are some pics of Laney on her new play mat. She is not to happy in the last one. :)

Indy Thinks I am a bad mom!

Today was day two of letting Laney "cry it out" during nap time. Everyday she wakes up several times during her nap. I started letting her cry for five minutes to let her learn to self soothe. Indy is not a big fan - today while Laney was crying he walked to the stairs then back to me several times. The entire time he had a look that said "Hey, don't you know the baby is crying? Aren't you going to go up there?" Indy often gives me this look whenever Laney cries for what he deems "too long." I never thought a dog could make you feel like a bad parent!

Reading and Tummy Time
