Laney was crying in the car so I sang her to sleep.  When I got her out of the car I saw that the hat was blocking her eyes - probably while she was crying in the first place.  Oh well.

I tried to use Windows movie maker on the last videos and there was no sound.  I changed them back but now Laney is sideways but there is sound.  Ryan took this video Wednesday when he got home from work - Laney and I were mid "conversation."

Visiting Groeb Farms

This week we went and ate lunch with Ryan at work.  We had a great time!  Laney enjoyed playing on the computer - although she has a hard time reaching the top row of letters on the keyboard. Laney also enjoyed being adored by all of Ryan's coworkers - I swear she knows when people are complimenting her!

Working Hard - or Hardly Working!

Much better.. although it looks like Laney is seconds away from trying to chew on Ryan's Thumb.

Crying it out.

Laney has reached that special age where she needs to be on a schedule.  I am just waiting for her to agree with me.  Some days are great - she takes a 1.5 hour nap goes to bed at 7pm and does not wake up until then next morning.  Other days not so much.  After looking over all of the research about each method to putting a baby on a schedule I decided on a modified version of  the Ferber Method or Cry it Out.  Letting Laney cry for short periods of time and then going in her room and soothing her.  It is horrible - I feel like a horrible parent the entire time and 3 minutes feels like 3 hours when she is screaming bloody murder. 

As I write this post Laney is in the next room exercising her lungs and expressing her distaste for this method of treatment.  I am sure this is just one of the many times in Laney's lifetime that she will be in her room screaming her distaste for me - so I better get used to it.

Naked Time

We let Laney hang out O Natural tonight before her bath.  It was fun and we got some really cute pictures.  While we were downstairs taking pictures Ryan expressed some worry about getting peed on. Laney must have heard him and since he mentioned it she obliged him.  Luckily Ryan always gets "comfy" code for PJ's before he gives her a bath so it was easy for him to clean himself up.

While Ryan was bathing her I hear him singing one of his made up songs - only this one is very appropriate.  He looped the following lyrics over and over until she was bathed and dressed.

"Why so sad? Don't be mad. You should be glad. You P-P-Peed on your Dad.  You got him bad. You P-P-Peed on your Dad."

So enjoy these pictures because I think Ryan is not to keen on the idea of another naked time anytime soon.
 

Laney has coordination

Well it is official Laney has some hand eye coordination, now if only she could help her mom out with it. Sorry it is sideways - still working on  how to rotate a video.

Laney and I "talk" to each other often.  Sometimes I worry that I will no longer be able to hold a conversation with adults.  Or that I will use the dreaded baby voice in public.  The same voice that used to make me sick - that I use on a daily basis now.  I guess one thing I have learned since having Laney is that I will probably do many things I told myself I would NEVER do.

After looking through hundreds of pictures of Laney, I have discovered that neither Ryan or I are featured in many shots.  At first I shied away from the camera with the usual post pregnancy body loathing.  Ryan has no excuse for being absent. But now it is just me forgetting that Laney might like some shots with her mom/dad in them.

Recently Laney has started putting your finger in a death grip and slowly bringing it to her mouth for her to gnaw on. She does this with any object and gets very upset when she can't get the object in her mouth to chew on it is super cute!

Reaching Out

Laney has a new favorite toy, it is a cow that hangs from her car seat.  She is using her new skill of hand eye coordination to "play" with the cow.  Play meaning grab and put in her mouth!

Laney has Style

Normally I am lazy when it comes to dressing Laney. My motto being " whatever is easiest" but since she has moved into 6-9 months clothes we have too many cute outfits. Here are some pictures of her styling outfits.

Cute as a Dollar

Laney went to the doctor this past week for her 4 month visit. She remains in the 90th percentile for height and weight at 26.5 inches and 16lbs 2 ozs. She got 3 shots - I hate shots because they make me hold her down and she always looks at me as if I am the one hurting her. At first I thought shots were going well because she was not screaming into my ears - turns out she was screaming so hard she was not making any sound. Her face was bright red and she had a tortured look on her face.

After the appointment she feel asleep in the car so I decided to go to K-mart for random things. While we were there she woke up and was smiling and cooing at every passerby. Laney really know how to ham it up to her adoring public. There was one elderly couple who stopped to shower her with love that gave her a silver dollar because she was so cute. The old man looked at me and said "I just have to give her a present - put it in her piggy bank." Ryan suggested that our new hobby should be cruising around Kmart for money.

Speaking of how cute she is: Laney did not win the cutest baby contest.. just goes to show that there are a lot of people out there with no taste! Just kidding.
